The earliest biochemical abnormality is an increase in serum thyroid‐stimulating hormone (TSH) concentration with normal serum fT4 and fT3 concentrations (subclinical hypothyroidism), followed by a decrease in serum fT4, at which stage most patients have symptoms and require treatment (overt hypothyroidism). We did some blood tests, which showed: Ferritin= 12ug (range 15-200ug) TSH= 1.6 (range .4-4.5) Free T4= 13 (range 10-24) My doctor called this Ferritin level "very low" so am being prescribed iron tablets twice a day for 2-3 months but I can't help feeling that my other hypothyroid-like symptoms are left unexplained. low tsh symptoms, i.e. about 0.005, whereas other values, T3, T4 and Free T4 were all within normal range. She has been having bad insomnia for past many weeks (ever since her TSH values went down), has frequent bouts of heart palpitations, is fatigued and has digestive problems-sometimes diarrhea and sometimes constipation. Had bloodwork today for my yearly physical. Everything came back good except for TSH.
low tsh symptoms, It came back low… 0.38 whereas normal is 0.47-4.0. I have no idea where this came from. Last year it was around 2.3 or so. There was a note on the results saying that if you take Biotin supplements it can make the levels appear falsely low, and they recommend stopping them at least 48 hours before bloodwork ...
